Sortacase screws and fittings are British-made components for furniture and joinery: two-piece hinged screw cover caps that fold over and click shut to hide screwheads, and furniture fittings - modesty blocks (also called KD blocks, connecting blocks or fix-it blocks) and connecting screws - used to join and assemble cabinets, flat-pack furniture, kick boards and worktops.

Frequently asked questions

How do fold-over screw caps work?

Drive your screw through the cap’s base ring as you fix the panel, then snap the hinged cover closed over the head. The cap stays captive on the screw - openable for disassembly, closeable again after. That’s the practical advantage over separate snap-ondome covers, which detach and disappear. BRIT-PAX® caps come in 7 standard colours to match common board and furniture finishes.

What is a modesty block?

A modesty block is a small rigid plastic block, screwed into both faces of a right-angle joint to connect two boards - the standard knock-down (KD) fitting in cabinet-makingand flat-pack furniture. Fast to fit with just a screwdriver, strong for its size, and easy to take apart, which is exactly why the furniture trade has used them for decades.
